Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has been lending its assistance and fighting for the rights of 9 million overseas Pakistanis ceaselessly. Among these efforts, an important milestone was reached when the Overseas Pakistanis Convention was held on January 25 in Islamabad, where a 20-point Charter of Demands was agreed to by representatives from more than 26 nations.
The Foreign Affairs department of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has taken up the issue and drawn up a strong and coherent plan of action for the acceptance of these demands by the Parliament, relevant ministries and related decision-makers. In this regard, Director Foreign Affairs Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Asif Luqman Qazi met the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis’ Affairs, Sajid Hussain Toori in a meeting in Islamabad yesterday where he presented the Charter of Demands to the Honourable Minister. Having discussed the various points raised in the Charter in detail, Mr. Toori assured his full cooperation to take up the matter and resolve it at the earliest.
Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs department is following up this case closely. Asif Luqman Qazi has declared his intention of raising the issues of overseas Pakistanis on every platform and striving for their solutions. He has also reiterated his demand for the electoral rights of non-resident Pakistanis living abroad and their representation in Parliament.
