An Israeli airstrike on Wednesday killed the director of the Indonesian Hospital, a facility considered vital for thousands of Palestinians in northern Gaza, according to local officials and residents.
Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan lost his life when his apartment in Gaza City was struck, killing not only him but also his wife, two daughters, and his son-in-law. A relative who later reached the scene described the apartment as almost unrecognizable, with rubble and debris covering the bodies of the family members.

The remains of Dr. Al-Sultan were transported to Al-Shifa Hospital, where the director, Mohammad Abu Salmiya, confirmed the identities. Witnesses said the doctor’s face had been severely disfigured by the blast.
The attack provoked sharp criticism from health authorities and officials in Gaza, who accused Israel of deliberately targeting medical professionals and further dismantling the health infrastructure during the ongoing military campaign.
Dr. Al-Sultan had been widely respected for decades of service in Gaza’s overstretched healthcare system. His death has underscored the growing concerns among aid groups about the safety of medical personnel and patients amid escalating hostilities.
Israeli forces have intensified operations across northern Gaza in their stated effort to dismantle Hamas. The latest strikes have added to the mounting toll of casualties, with health facilities repeatedly damaged or rendered inoperative since the conflict began (VIDEO COURTESY TRT).
