A resolution presented in the conference of Central Executive Council of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan
A woman is the basic unit of a family system and a guardian of social values and traditions. Islam has declared women fair sex. She has been blessed with innate feelings of kindness and patience. She has also been given a heavy responsibility of nurturing and training the new generation. Women used to be considered lowly creatures in times of ignorance but Allah’s Last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came as the benefactor for the womankind. Humanity owes so much to the holy prophet (peace be upon him) as he gave the true place to women. He ascended women to the highest place from the ebb of lowliness.
Womenfolk are the real guardian of the civilisations and a protector of traditions and values. The woman is power. If she understands her responsibilities and duties, she can bring a revolution to society. Satisfaction and peace of mind of a woman are key for the stability of the family as well as society.
Mixed-gender society and the hazards of the media have promoted violent behaviour in society. Neither the institution of the family is stable, nor are women safe. Civilisations rapidly decline if women are not safe in society. We should protect women, their dignity and respect for a peaceful society so that the human race could be raised in a dignified way.
The members of the Central Executive Council of Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan reiterate their resolve that the solution to all the problems related to women lies in implementing Sharia laws and only Islam is the true defender of women. So our demands are:
The role of women should be encouraged in building a healthy society and such policies should be formulated at the state level to help women fulfil their responsibilities.
Women should be provided with all possible facilities for health and medical treatment.
Women’s rights as provided by Islam ie Mahr (dower), education, testimony and inheritance should be ensured at all costs.
Women are the guardians of culture and traditions so a positive and dignified cultural role of women should be projected on media.
Criminals involved in rape cases of women and girls should be dealt with as per Sharia laws.
Women’s rights and safety should be ensured at the workplace. They should be entitled to all the benefits provided to the male workers.
The topics of modesty, Islamic society, values and stability of family should be included in the educational curriculum.
Women should be proved an environment that is free from panic, harassment and there should be a ban on co-ed as well as mixed-gender workplaces.
As per the provision of article 35 of the Constitution of Pakistan, the state needs to fulfil its responsibility pertaining to the protection of family, marriage, mother and sister.
The government should take necessary steps to ban prostitution, the use of harmful medicines and publication, display and broadcasting of all vulgar literature and advertisements.
Steps should be taken to promote a culture of modesty and protection of women. The oppressed woman in occupied Kashmir, Palestine, Burma and other regions are desperate for help. The government should fulfil its responsibility of providing basic human rights to oppressed women.
